Ground Wire positioning

Hey all,

Is it safe to ground my Alpine 4-channel amp to the wire that is grounding my factory stereo?? Just want to know so i don't damage anything.

were are you mounting the amp that you want to use the radio ground cable? You should just be able to ground it anywhere on the chaise. My amp is in the trunk and I grounded to were the upper part of the rear seats mount

My alpine alpine is located under the passenger seat. I figure that is the best spot for my ground wire. where the radio ground wire is. My amp for my subs are in my trunk and the ground wire for that is located abbove where the rear seats mount.

In that case I would run as ground wire under the carpet and up into the center console and ground it on the ebrake mounting

Will that matter if the ground wire that is connected to my amp is connected to the radio ground wire as well? That seems like the easiest for me in regards to mounting my ground wire for my amp.

I was always told your NOT suppose to ground two pieces of eletrical equipment at the same spot.

Ya its called a ground loop:eek:. I'd ground to the ebrake like ^^ said. Grounding to the radio will work but you want the shortest lenth possible. so the ebrake it a good spot for amps the are mounts in the cab of you car.

thats a decent place just make sureyou hit it with sand paper to make for a good connection

where's a decent place?? so is it okay to ground to the existing ground wire. that way i don't have to drill another hole. anyways, does anyone have pics so i can have some ideas?

He was referring the the ebrake suggestion that I said above. You probably will not have ot drill a new hole. There are already some in it if I remember correctly
