system finally coming together......

I have been piecing together my system for awhile now but it is finally coming together. The reason it is taking so long is cause i buy stuff when i have some extra cash. I have 2-12" alpine type e subs in a sealed box and a 1800 kenwood amp. I also have a jvc head unit i will be installing soon i just have to wait till i get that special wiring harness. my question is will i have to run a capacitor for my system? The sales rep at best buy said no but I don't know if id trust him. thanx in advance for the help.

a capacitor is never NEEDED, it doesnt hurt to run a system without a capacitor, a capacitor jsut makes things better... kinda. What a capacitor does is it builds up a charge from your battery and holds it until what ever it is hookd up to needs it. In this case your subs. So it holds a charge until you subs hit and then releases it. The point of this is so that yo lights and other electronics in your car dont dim or get less power because of the insane amount of power needed for the subs. But after you turn your subs up high enough a capacitor doesnt really do anything. I have a capacitor in my trunk right now, and really it doesnt help that much.

So i would say no you dont need one, especially them being like 100$ +. But it will stop your headlights from dimming by alot, but will never completely stop them from dimming.

I recommend if you were going to get one, take that money and upgrade to a better battery for your car, or just another battery to run all your add ons too, system, neons etc. Another battery is the only way to completely stop dimming of lights from your system. Next best thing is a better battery next best thing is a cap.

i have another quick question. i was wondering if there is a way to turn off the amp when i don't want the bass going but still have the radio on. I thought maybe a switch inline on the remote wire would work? would it or is there a better way?

you could turn the bass down on the head unit so i doesnt hit at all. you dont have to shut the amp off. my head unit has an option to turn the woofer on or off. And almost all amps come with a remote where you can turn the bass up and down with. but the easiest way is to turn it down with the head unit. making a switch would be kind of tedious because of the size of the wire used to power the amp, finding a switch to wire it too would be annoying but i could be done.

k thanx for the help. i was wondering too if anyone is familiar with the KAC-9104D kenwood amp. it has the speaker level input wiring with it. now to use that would i just tap into the rear speaker wires then plug it into the amp? i might do this temporary until i have money to switch out my head unit to one with preamp outs. anyone done this before or know how it works? i heard u don't have to use a remote wire either is that true.

This is before i ran all the wiring. The only wires in the pic are the speaker wires. All of my wires are ran under the carpet for a clean look. I will get some new pics up as soon as i can (its night time right now haha). Tell me what you think.
