yeah i used to think that 3" would be too much but with FI i do know that more open is better... just where is the limit... i am forcing a lot of air in with the modified SC and smaller pulley.

here is my idea.... 3" all the way down the exhaust tunnel and right before it has to crank over to the drivers side split it into two pipes (i will be finishing it off with a dual) run the side by side to the back... i am customizing my rear bumper again (for those of you who dont know i have a custom rear bumper) so i can have a center exit exhaust.

and the 2 pipes will either be 2.25" or 2.5"

You still need some back pressure with your system so don't go too big. Eventhough you have FI it's not like a turbo where it's of the up most importance to have as little back pressure as possible. You still need some for scavenging effect because the supercharger is on the intake side of things. (obviously) Where as with a turbo you have a big turbine sitting right in the way of the exhaust so it creates all the back pressure you need.

I think your idea will work just fine and judging by your past finished product the dual exhaust will look freaking sweet.

well thanks man....

ok i am not that great at photo shop anymore but here is a pic of what i kinda want to do with the rear bumper...

and in the black i want the exhaust to come up in the middle pointing up a little bit... i am going to use my 2 megan muffs (or cans like some people say) which i know some people dont like but it is my style and this is a regular HIN show car so the it fits in withthat crowd...
the 2 muffs will be mounted together side by side in the center pointing up a little and they will be between 2 of those little fins...

nice, that will look good I think. Plus it's unique because I don't think anyone has done a rear defuser on the Cobalt yet, and I like the exhaust idea as well. I think you will do good at HIN with that.

here is how we are going to paint it so it will look good with the back like that

the hood and ss wing part will be CF the res will be painted with black with metal flake in it (like the black GTOs)

That's going to look fantastic!

As for the sound, I don't know because I haven't ever heard a dual exhaust Cobalt.

i had dual on my 2.2 it sounded nice, i just dont want to F up the sound with the 3" but then again this is a smaller liter FI motor so it will be totaly different... i just happen to have a 7' section of 3" stainless steel pipe..

Yeah, I was thinking about going with 3", but ground clearance starts to become a problem at that point. I see how you are going with the painting, looks very similar to the styling of the X! I'll grab a pic...
