RIP my brother in law, Joseph Daniel

On December 21st, 2007, my brother in law Daniel was killed in a motorcycle accident. A lady pulled out in front of him and the conclusion is now two sweet little boys without their father and a family missing their beloved son, brother, grandson, cousin, and nephew. It was a sudden death, which is always hardest sort of death to deal with.

Here are exact words from the son of the people that caused the death of my brother in law: he actually typed this.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, slow your roll there turbo. You don't even know what happened. Before you guys start getting the wrong idea and chalking this tragic accident to crazy "cagers" lets get the facts straight.

First of all, I do not have a bike but I can understand that driving around Houston on a bike is scary at best. I'm not saying there aren't idiots driving around in Houston who really shouldn't be, but that this wasn't the case. Despite what the newspapers said, the Jeep did not strike Daniel's bike, nor was it oncoming like what the first link said.

The lady in the Jeep had pulled out of La Cabanna and into the center turning lane. She waited for traffic to pass so she could merge into the main lanes. She had barely begun to start moving, not even begginning to turn into another lane, when she felt a good thump on the back of her Jeep. Without knowing who just hit her, she pulled over into the Sonic, expecting the person who just bumped her to follow, but only found Daniel lying in the road. There were no skid marks, just a broken tailight on the Jeep. Police investigators have the Jeep and haven't come to a conclusion as to who's fault it is. They had said they probably won't until a few months.

How do I know all of this? My Dad was the passenger in the Jeep. He is shaken up really bad. He said that when he saw Daniel, he saw one of us lying there. I have never seen my Dad cry until today, and I'm 23 years old.

Obviously, that doesn't compare to the pain and anguish Daniel's family must feel, especially given that it's Christmas time. I've never had family die so suddenly and at such a young age so I can barely even begin to imagine what they are going through, but I have been and will continue to pray for them and hope that they can cope with such a tragic loss. I hope that everyone who hears of this incident can be thankfull for who and what they have, and not fester feelings of hate.

Thanks for reading,
Kent

Here is what the accident report said:

Now the insurance company has brought up the fact that they cancelled Daniel's life insurane when he turned 25. He was almost 27 when he passed. Yet, his parents were still paying for it the whole time and they were never notified that it had been cancelled. Therefore, we are putting together a benefit for the family and his two sons, one is 3 and the other is 8 months. Here is some info.

~OK ALL~! - This is a rough draft. I will add more detail and information as we receive it. This will be posted nearly everyday as not only a reminder, but an update of information.

We are holding a benefit to raise money for the Andrews Family in lieu of the recent death of their beloved son, husband, and father, Joseph Daniel. The date is set for Feb. 9th, 2008. The location is the American Legion Hall in New Caney, right next to the court house on Hwy. 59. The address is 21130 Legion Rd., New Caney, TX 77357. If directions are needed, please contact myself or any member of the Andrews family via phone (832-588-6826) or myspace email. There will be a bike run on the date of the benefit from the Woodlands area to the location of the benefit. If you would like to participate, please contact us for more information. At the benefit, after the bikes arrive, we will be holding a bike show/contest. Judging will be done on look and bikes will be awarded plaques. To enter in the contest, there will be a $10 fee (all procedes go toward donation). Also, there will be $5 bbq plates available (once again, all procedes go toward donation). We will also be holding a silent auction. Each item in the auction will be a donated item from either a store or individual. Starting bids will vary.

So come on out! Bring everyone you know, all are invited! Have some fun! And God bless all those who lend a helping hand!
