Check engine light?

My check engine light came on this morning, the only thing I can think it might be is my oil life is at 39%.
Does the engine light come on when oil life is below 40%? Or am I going to have to head to the shop?

I haven't got a manual so I can't read about it.

No, it wouldn't come on for 39% oil life. Just go to Autozone and have them use a code reader. They won't charge you anything. It could always be something as simple as a loose gas cap.

I would always seem to get a CEL after the dealer had it, they always came back with "loose gas cap"

I no longer go to the dealer and haven't had a CEL yet......

Well it threw a code P0420. Says it's a catalyst efficiency low-bank 1.
Could be either a bad catalytic converter, engine misfire, vacuum leak, or oil leak into exhaust valve guide seals.

So, it's going in on Monday for a check-up.
