HVAC Blower motor service

Okay so I consulted the service manual about my squeaking blower motor. It says there should be two nuts holding it in. okay fine, I crawl into the foot well and find two plastic rivets... wtf... I can't unscrew those, GM. So how do I go about this? A little lube and my problem is solved, but unless I brake it, how do I get to it?

Did you ever find a way to get to the blower motor?
