CAI or JetChip?

After installing my TWM short shifter I'm wanting another "goody" to add to my 'Balt. Next mod (besides some cheap exterior mods) is going to be aimed towards the engine itself. So I'm looking at either a K&N cold air intake or a Jet PCM Stage 1 chip. Which would be a better and smarter upgrade? I know neither one will get me a whole lot in the HP department but I'm not too concerned with that. Maybe just a little more spunk would be nice. Would the chip get me better mpg and "spunk" over the intake? Or vice versa?

Thanks guys

i went from the k&n drop in to the typhoon intake. and the intake def. gives better throttle response. as for the chip you wont be able to tune your cars ecu with it. aftermarket tunes do that. the chip has the plus of being unplugable if you need warranty work. aftermarket tunes dont, and void warranty. not sure about the cobalt chip. but most drop in chips need supporting mods to work properly. usually intake is one of them.

Ok… I just got my Cobalt and this is the order I would like to do things.
K&N CIA (Quicker throttle response, acoustics)
Pasesetter Cat back (More air needs more air out, acoustics)
Jet Chip (Most preprogrammed chips are set for the basic most above)

IMO the first thing you should do is open up the exhaust. 2.2 models come with 1 3/4" exhaust pipe and that restricts your performance from the start. Adding an intake or module, or even a tune, is hampered by the small size exhaust tubing.

GMPP exhaust is 2 1/8" to 2 1/4" or you could get aftermarket exhausts up to 2.5"

I cannot stress this enough.. DO NOT POST IF YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT!

With just a K&N filter alone you will not see but maybe 1whp.. With a true intake you could see anywhere from 4-8ish plus a little boost in fuel economy. (if you can keep your foot off the gas)

After you are done with ALL of your performance modifications (minus items that require a tune right away) get a true tune. The jet-chip is good for if you have basic bolt ons but will not provide the HP increase a true tune will.

yeah I agree but i suggest gettin the K&N filter first then exhaust then drop.....and my personal advice is goin for the TRIFECTA tune instead of the jet chip. I had the jet chip and it has its ups and downs but youll see an overall better performance upgrade with the tune itself. It cost 250 for the tune and 200 for the device (Device cost is only a deposit so you can upgrade your car then when you send it back you get your deposit back) Ive had my tune now for three months and I love it. i upgraded my CAI and my responce is better then before...but thats just my 2cents.

I'm not really wanting to tune the car, or as of right now don't have definite plans to. Mostly because I'm not sure what I want to do to my car. Would buying a Jetchip help or just be a waste of money? I know neither (CAI or Jetchip) will add much hp, but I'm not really looking at HP alone (more less mpg and/or a little spunk).

Y'all mentioned an exhaust, I haven't really thought much into that area. Would this be at the "top of the list" (as in, do this first) to a good engine component mod?

Sorry for the silly questions, just not quite sure what to do next that will help my car.

I would personally say go with an intake or a cat-back. you will be happy with either
the jetchip is something to support and get the most out of your mods. Not really to boost hp
