haha sorry got u confused with another member I was talkin to bro

One way of lowering compression cheaply is by adding another head gasket to increase the space between the cylinder head. I wouldn't suggest it though yanno? Don't go cheap just a way to do it

That’s not an option for a proper build. That’s what I like to call a "shady tree trick". It is possible to plan for CR. You need to have some numbers on hand like bore, stroke, piston CC, compressed head gasket thickness, combustion chamber CC, and piston to deck height. Piston to deck height you'd need to mock up the engine. I have the formula if anyone is interested to play around with numbers. Matter a fact I have the whole book Auto Math by John Lawlor. Great book but I read somewhere it’s been discontinued. IF you can find it get it.

holy crap dude i've heard of that book. I looked on ebay for a copy and couldn't find one!

CC's are everything too. I think most people don't really know compression refers to the stroke of the piston. that's what I mean about people throwing around lowering compression but don't really know what it means.

To make the CR as accurate as possible you need a few formulas, numbers, a calculator, and a lot of time. You’ll also need to know pi, pi= 3.1415927. Now you can begin to calculate cylinder volume. Because Ecotechs are metric engines this number will be in cubic centimeters.

~Cylinder Volume = pi/4 x BORE (squared) x STROKE

Now with that number we can calculate a rough CR which is

~CR = Cylinder volume + Chamber Volume / Chamber volume

Seems simple enough huh? The real trick is applying the cylinder volume formula to the compressed head gasket and deck height. Then adding or subtracting them from the Chamber Volume. These numbers may be small but in the grand scheme they make a hell of a difference

To prevent any copyright junk the above info is from Auto Math by John Lawlor ,an HP Book, published by Berkley Publishing Group, a member of Penguin Putnam Inc.

haha I knew what Pi was at least so this is for determining how much to lower/raise stroke?
