I can respect a poster saying: "I'd rather get HPTuners" instead of: "You should have gotten HPTuners". Trying out new products, finding they work, posting the information to others so that they can make their own decision is what I did. If others want to tell people what they should do (their opinion only) be prepared to back it up or shut up..................

Ready for this?.....Jet Chips has a new control module out for the Cobalt -- you can read some data and have some control of timing and fuel. PN is 68021 and JEGS said they should have them on the 29th ($194).
So like a piggy back type thing? Not too freaking bad for less then 200$ bucks. Do you have a link?

Does this work?

JET 68021 - JEGS

If not go, to the JEGS website and type in jet 68021 in their search engine.

Jet Chip:

JET Performance Products, Import & Domestic Performance, Performance Kits, Fuel Systems, Transmissions

Sounds good for the $ -- need to find out if it works as well as the stage 1/2 modules. If it does it may be a really good deal!

hmm doesn't seem to have much info there. If it lets you adjust fuel, spark, etc etc then it would be a real god send for the 2.2 guys who have no other good options.

I'm not sure how Jet will do it. Could be as simple as plugging into the OBDII port or as difficult as splicing into certain sensor signal wires to intercept the signal.

Sorry, what I assume Red is talking about is a piggy back type system which will allow for some minor adjustments. It's not nearly as in depth as a tuning suite but it atleast allows for some adjustment as opposed to a canned tune.

I saw the control module on the Jet Chip website for the first time this morning while trying to check out their stage 1 and stage 2 modules. I'm trying to get more info too -- where it connects and how much altering/tuning you can do. May just buy one to check it out when they become available thru JEGS. If it works as advertised it would be a real step ahead for all NA cobalt models. I just wish they could include altering the 2.4 L camshaft VVT for better acceleration -- but only with track-proven proof -- that would be "tricky".

IMADreamer -- can HPTuners change the cam phasing yet?

Just letting everyone know what I found on the Jet Chip website today

Jet Chip Stage 1 module is working well on my 2.4L and others are using the Jet Chip Stage 2 and say they are working nicely too.

I don't think you can yet Red. I don't know if you'd want to. lol You are talking about multiple VE tables for the VVT which makes it absurdly complicated. Since VVT is a dynamic phasing as opposed to Vtec which just changes the phase at a set RPM it's not at all an easy tune.

Thanks!

I don't doubt you on the complexity of the VVT cam phasing; it is no doubt critical even in the piston-to-valve clearance since the cams can move up to 60% advanced or retarded.....I just believe that Chevy/GM has them set up more for emissions output then they do for performance. One day when the "in-the-know" gearheads figure out how to tune the cam phasing for more power that is where we'll see the most "bang-for-the-buck" on the 2.4L.
