Now that I've had he Cobalt for a few months, it is apparent that the little 2.2L likes to run hot. In hot weather, there is a significant reduction in performance and mileage, especially with the A/C on. To remedy this, I'd like to consider adding a CAI. What product does everyone recommend?
Thanks

Sometimes when I start my car it somewhat half turns over and the engine runs, but it runs roughly and things shake. The speedometer/tach/gas gauges dont move and as soon as I turn the car back off and then turn it on, it will run fine...but the clock will be reset as though the battery has been disconnected/reconnected.

It does this far more often when I have my injen set as an SRI, but maybe thats a coincidence.

I am wondering if its the spark plugs im using. Im using the Bosch platinum IR fusion plugs and I know some people argue that theyre fine or superior, Ive seen other people argue against them...frankly im not knowledgeable enough to really go either way. They worked flawlessly for me up until I had installed my injen intake, but it seems to do it much less when set up as a CAI.

Any ideas?

So first off, I know I'm a noob sorry :/ just getting into cars as this is my first one. I have a 2010 Chevy Cobalt coupe (not the ss) and I want to get a nice deep sound from my exhaust. After looking around on the internet I've found a few that I like such as the Flowmaster 40 series and just a cheapo N1 model, but how can I be sure they'll fit my stock piping?? I don't know the measurements. Also to put on one of those performance mufflers do I need to get a full cat system installed, or can I just go to a muffler shop and have them slap it on without modifying anything else? Thanks guy in advance I'm tryin to learn this stuff as I go.

This is one the the next mods I was thinking of doing and I generally know what to expect as far as installation and how it somewhat changes the feel of the car while driving(shakes slightly more, etc), but I dont know what the different options look like.

With my engine bay being mostly a combination of polished metal, red, and black I was thinking of going with base of polished metal, upper support red, and bushing black. As said above, Im just curious what their different colors look like and if any of you have them if youd mind posting a pic or linking me to one.

Oh and using the pic they provide, let me know if Im correct with labeling here:

Bu= bushing. US= upper support. B=Base. The green area is what I want to know if its part of the upper support and would be red then or if its part of the base and would therefore be polished

my engine bay presently. Have the injen as an SRI for the moment though.

So, I went to day and updated my L61 Header and Downpipe to an LSJ. I've seen alot of posts about this being "a cheap upgrade mod". And it is. I got my Header and DP for $125, and with a little machining work to the studs, and all new Gaskets, I have $200 in a better exhaust.

There are some major differences between the L61 and LSJ Header.

DownPipe: Flange to Cat:
L61: 2-1/4"
LSJ: 2-3/4"

Downpipe: Cat to o2 Sensor:
L61: 1-7/8"
LSJ: 2-3/4"

Downpipe: After O2 Sensor:
L61: 2"
LSJ: 2-3/4"

Header to Downpipe Port opening
L61: 1.9" x 1.6" D shaped
LSJ: 2 1/4" Round

L61 Header:
It sounds louder and lower exhaust note. This is hooked to a GMPP Cat back.
I will be dyno'ing the car Saturday, at which time I will be able to list whats gained, as my car was last ddyno'd in April, and this is the only performance mod since then.

So now that I have my cover thanks to Foximus, I also wanted to get one of the stainless steel covers as well. The problem is ive only found them on mrzperformance and the shipping theyre offering, at least the reasonably affordable options, seem to require a longer wait than id prefer.

I googled around a little and didnt find much, do any of you know other sites that sell these same items? Im going to go through the vendor list here, but was curious if anyone knew of any off hand.

Just for reference, this is what im talking about:

Craigslist FTW!! The guy I bought it from told me that his kid bought it for his Cobalt a few months ago and then sold the car. He's gone to college now and the Dad wanted to make room in the garage so he had it on CL for $40. I didn't know that it was Injen until I got there and as soon as I saw the red box I knew it was mine! I'm not sure if he didn't know what he was selling or he just didn't care. Either way, it's mine now for the sweet, sweet price of $30!!

Commence the relentless bashing!!

I'm looking for a header for my car, its a 2.2L auto...I've bought one from Ebay and it didn't even come close to fitting properly and the company (X3 Racing) havn't been returning my emails and now I'm out almost $300 including labor for taking my old one off and having to put it back on. I asked the local performance shop where I live and he couldn't find one either, I even checked Summit Racing with no luck either. I have however found one by Pacesetter on another site, is this one legit? Will it actually fit my car? Thanks in advance \m/

Ok when i first got my cobalt i wasnt that much into tuning and wasnt to sure on whatto do so i took my car to a local muffler shop. They took some pipeing and welded it to the hole on my catalytic converter flange and ran the pipe to the end of my car and put a 3a racing muffler on it. The car sounds good but i'm thinking of changein it so i was wondering would i have to have a new flange installed on my catalytic converter if i wanted to get a bolt on exhaust system?
