Anyways, take a look at my ride and give me ideas to what color I should paint my stockers. I'm not quite sure what color to paint them so I'm up for suggestions, haters, and photo-shoppers! And if you can, tell me how much you thinka paint shop would charger me for it. :bigsmile:

Well, I'm very depressed.

Today I decided to remove the stock spoiler off of my LS. Everything was great and it came off easier than expected with the adhesive. I pulled it down the driveway to take a look and I LOVED it so much better. The profile looked better, there was less attention to the rear of the car, and it just looked alot cleaner. Pics!

These were before I tried to take the adhesive off.

However, when I went to go take the adhesive off, I cleaned the edges of dirt so that I would not scrape as much when i was using the credit card. I looked closely and noticed tons of chips and abrasions around the edge of the adhesive where the spoiler hit and chattered over the years. This was when I decided to abort the opperation, since I wasn't going to do any finishing work, just plug the holes.

(The hole plug situation was annoying as well, as the holes were different sizes, and there were two eyebrow type slots over one set of holes that I would have had to cover up with a bigger plug. I think they were foam adhesive overflow vent things.)

So once I got the spoiler back on, I decided to tighten the nuts a little tighter since the adhesive wasn't as sticky. I then found out that the back section of the spoiler mounts were sticking up slightly. We couldn't tighten them any more because the bolts ended up stripping and just spinning in their holes. So then I decided to caulk the inside of the spoiler where the bolts were because I could see daylight through those eyebrow slots. I was really freaking disappointed, because I liked how it looked so much. Maybe someday I'll find a new trunk lid at a junkyard or ebay, or just have the holes and scratches finished and repainted. It was supposed to be a reversible opperation. I was going to put new non sticky foam on the spoiler mounts so I could pull it on and off with protection still.

That's it, just thought I'd share, if anyone had this same frustrating experience, let me know! Sorry for such a long post, just wanted to share my frustration. :(

---------- Post added at 09:19 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:16 PM ----------

I'm also wondering if I should continue this project and just ignore the scratches for a while and touch them up, or just leave it with the spoiler on. Thanks!

So, the 2008 Cobalt I bought had a headlight that is collecting moisture inside. There is actually a little puddle building at the bottom if you look closely. I got a new bulb put in, but it quickly blew out. So, the entire headlight needs to be replaced. There are two different types of lights for this car and of course, my came with the more expensive one. Mine is an "Amber" light, for which the dealer is charging $350. The other light was $150. Obviously, I don't want to pay $350 for a light if I can get it for less. Do you have any online stores you recommend. The typical auto part stores don't seem to carry them.

K, I know this question has been asked before, but I thought maybe people had some updated info. I'm interested in taking the stock spoiler off of my LS coupe. I want to plug the holes with some kind of plastic or rubber plug. I was just wondering if anyone has done this, and where they got them. And any pics too? It seems like it would look quite professional and elegant if color matched. And it's reversible! (I like to change things alot. You should see me with my phone background! haha!) Thanks everyone! Sorry for bringing this up again! :3

splitter on a lip (may be too much) for the record I hardened it by saturating it thermosetting resins so it's not soft at all:

Alright guys,
Took this past Friday off and got to work on another project. Before reading further I gotta say, I'm thrilled of how everything turned out. It was long, hard and required lots of concentration but I got it done and am very pleased with the results. The only small things I have noticed are that the left light got a bit of moisture while I was washing it today, I will re-seal it tomorrow. The other small issue is that I THINK that either the driver's side or possible both side projectors are minutely off rotation. But it really doesn't matter to me, it does not cause any disturbance on the road and is not all that noticeable. Last thing: I mounted the halos on the shrouds, which i am pleased with. I used silicone, 4 small beads at 4 spots on the shrouds. There is one bead that is visible, I should have not done one there, and only done the other 3, since I know now that it would have been enough to hold them, and not visible at all. We live and learn. Well, onwards with the good stuff...PICS;

(some pics were taken by Iphone so they are not so great. I used my brother's better camera to get some of the final shots as well as the night-time shots near the end)

RECEIVED THIS PACKAGE THURSDAY NIGHT, RIGHT ON TIME :D;

THE BUILD:
Took me over an hour to tape off housings for painting. The paint turned out amazing, one of my favorite parts of the build;

Cutting the reflectors took a while. I had to make it bigger several times, and then line up the projector straight in order to drill the 4 bolt holes. Once that was done and the projector was mounted, everything began to come together;

I used low-gloss black, high temperature paint. I'm really happy with the paint's color and texture.
