is it possible to turbo the auto 2.2? If so, how would you get rid of the extra boost? can you put a Bov on an auto? or would you need a bypass valve thing?

a bypass and a blow off valve are the same thing. A blow off valve vents to the atmosphere and a bypass valve recirculates into the intake, but they serve the same purpose.

Whether you use a bypass or a blow off valve doesn't depend on your tranny but on if you are using a map sensor or not.

Why is that? Which one would you use for which? I'm trying to learn more about turbos because I plan on putting one on the coby in the next couple of years but I'm leaning towards a custom built kit...

Well there is a little more to it rather then just having a map sensor but the basics of it are that if your computer bases it's fuel, VE, and other tables off a MAP sensor then you don't need to recirculate and account for the air so the blow off valve just vents to the atmosphere. With a MAS sensor, which is what almost every modern car has, the air that goes into the engine has to be accounted for at all times. So on these cars you use a by pass valve that allows the air that has passed through the sensor but not used in the engine to be recirculated so the computer can accurately monitor what's going on in the system.

Thanks for clearing that up. I had to think about it for a minute but it makes sense.
