as far as I know, you will never be able to permanately turn off traction control, but all you need to do is press the traction control button one time to temporarily turn it off, and press it 2x for competitive mode with launch control........

ive heard you can also press and hold the traction control button in for 15 seconds and it will turn off traction control, ABS, and give you competitive mode, but i have yet to try it...... unsure if you need the engine running, or just keyed to the on position before you start it

trivia...technically it is the brake module telling the ECM/PCM to kill power...LoL

What year and model Cobalt do you have, manual or auto tranny (I don't see signatures)?

If pre-'08 and auto only by positioning the shifter in "L" turns off the TC...or you can listen to the bells and pull up 1-2 notches on the emergency brake.

...I see you have an 08 LT -- do you have a button that turns off the TC located on the dash to the right of the steering wheel?

No negative effects from running with the e-brake off like that right?

well im manual, not auto..... but no, there shouldnt be any ill effects from driving with the e-brake one click up. Even though the brake is "engaged" it still shouldnt snag up. Ive driven like that before in other cars without realizing "oops i left the brake on" but it wasnt any issue since it was only a few clicks up
