I've only seen it done once and they seemed to hold up good. I realize that's not exactly a sparkling testimony there though. lol I wish I could be more help.

A friend of mine had the flip trunk done on his Civic. He just used some hinges from Home Depot. It held up really well.

LMAO, Home Depot? I actually go there, Sears, OSH, and various hardware stores quite a bit and have never seen anything that would be automotive quality. If you want some sweet hinges, you should see our assembly department, we make the laser eye surgery machines for Visx, they're pretty complex with all the doors and openings we make for them.

The cobalt has a totally different hinge system then that honda. All though it is possible on the cobalt it'll just have to be done a little different. I'm working on a trunk and hood kit right now. It'll be operated with pneumatic cylinders or can be used with gas shocks. If all goes well it'll be easier then opening a stock hood or trunk.

^^^ haha but seriously if this is a daily driven car i wouldnt recommend it due to the fact in which they rarely ever line up back to the way they were and then they can leak and other stuff as well
