Console and "Shift Up" Light
Hi...we are looking at buying a 2005 Cobalt SS Turbo for our son. I have done some research on line, looking at reviews and stuff for this car. I have a couple of questions.
Does this car have a "shift up" light on it. According to the manual it is supposed to, but we don't see it. Our son has never driven a manual so I am thinking the light may be useful in the beginning. Is this car supposed to have a center console/armrest? There is not one in the car we are looking at, but photos of the SS show one. Thanks for your help. Would like to get these issues settled with the dealer if they are supposed to be in the car. i don't know about the shift light but some of the SS's come with the arm rest in them. if it doesn't have it at the dealer you can ask them and they can get you one
im thinking about getting one for my LS

If you are looking at a 2005 Cobalt with a turbo it is not a factory car. 2005 SS has the 2.0 Supercharged engine only...Shift light is in the dash I believe. They did not come with the center armrest as it is a bit in-the-way with the shifter -- personal choice on having one installed. Check out crateenginedepot.com -- click on cobalt/g5 on the left of the main screen and you can see all the accessories available for the Cobalt.

It is the supercharged 2.0 with the boost gauge...from the factory. Sorry for the confusion!

According to the owners manual the up-shift light is just to the right of the gas gauge -- looks like a gear with a "+" in the middle (US models only)

it should have one my ls has one, even though I have an auto. It's just non functional, but if you get the light at the right angle you can see it in there. I'm sure most if not all of the manuals have it.

no one bothered to tell them that that shift light will tell him to shift at a very high rpm that is not for daily driving... i wouldn't recommend them telling him oh hey just shift up when that light pops on LOL...
tickets will be in their sons near future if so. |
