Transmission Swap

Hi everyone, I just bought a 2006 chevy cobalt lt automatic and was wondering if it was worth doing a 5 speed swap in it. I would like to start modding my car but it seems pointless with an autoamtic

Not particularly.

And it's perfectly acceptable to mod an automatic. The 4T45E can handle more power than the manuals and when tuned right, shifts solid and quickly.

Mine's an automatic and just look at my mod list. I've autocrossed the car many, many times, and the auto works perfectly there.

The four speed is surprisingly beefy and can take some abuse, so don't let assumed fragility scare you from modding.

That transmission will hold up to quite a bit more power than that engine will without forged internals, plus with yours being an 06 you are pretty much limited to bolt ons anyways unless you go with a standalone ecu. 06 has no tuning support anymore
