Anyone ever fight a ticket and win??

A while back I got pulled over doing 161 in a 100 zone (km/h its canada) I guess equivellant to 100 in a 60...
Anyways, theres no mistakes on the ticket, allthough i never said a word to the officer admitting i had done something wrong

Now I have 4 points off my licence, an insurance hike, and a $394.50 ticket. WTF is that all about

It was in a rural area at one of those cash grab speed traps...

Any advice on what to do, the only problem I have with going to court is I dont know if they can up it to wreckless driving when I contest the ticket

Yea I hate to tell you this but thats kind of a no win situation. What can you honestly contest? If you say that you entered a speed trap well, thats kinda what theyre there for, to catch you. Theres no point in contesting it. Just apologize immensely, say you were being stupid, be humble with alot of no sir yes sir stuff, and pray that you seem decent enough for them to be lenient and not call it reckless driving. Of course if reckless driving isnt on the ticket it normally means they wont get you for it. But its Canada so who knows?

110 in a 50(yes, i am in canada too), they dont give you reckless driving unless you are being reckless and visually caught doing it. By speed trap, i guess you mean photo radar???? if so, there is two ways to go about it, one: fight the calibration of the gun, it may have not been calibrated.

the only other would be to fight it as the owner, not the driver, thus saving your demerits and keeping your insurance down.

If it was a cop, and he handed you the ticket, you can only bite the bullet, and pay it.

you did the crime, you pay the consequences.

It was unfortunately a cop that handed me the ticket, by speed trap I mean he was hiding and by the time i saw the nose of his car it was too late
I heard that if the cop does not show, you do not have to pay
In court

TravisB added 4 Minutes and 25 Seconds later...

I mean such harsh punishments for a victumless crime ? there was noone else on this road, what I was doing wasnt unsafe

yes, if they do not show, they throw it out of court.

What if the cop would have gotten a call and pulled out about the time you were doing 110... I think maybe he would have been a victim... Speeding is stupid unless you are doing it on a track. What was your reason for going that fast?

Photo radar here is not done by the police, it's a third party contracted out.

My reason for going that fast is i do it every day, and have never gotten caught, it saves time, and I do not believe it is unsafe, if you crash at 100 or 160, chances are its gonna be bad either way...
Also if the cop pulled out without checking for other cars, and an accident happened, it would be his own fault
