AWD is very hard on clutches, especially on the launch. Contrary to what the ricers tell you with Evos and STIs you can't just rev the piss out of them and drop the clutch. Now I'm not saying you can't get a very sturdy clutch that can handle the power but it's often too stiff and quirky to put in a production car, especially a luxury car like a Caddy. You'd get nothing but complaints about it if you did put a nice sturdy clutch in there.
So that's why companies like Mercedes, Bugatti, Ferrari (to a lessor extent), and now Cadillac are going to sequential or automatic transmissions.
