Head Gasket or Intake Manifold?
I have a 2005 cobalt that has had an engine replaced with a used 2008 2.2 ,now has around 45-50k miles (this was done at a garage later known to be dishonest, and cut corners).
I burn a lot of coolant, only noticeable while the engine is cold. From my understanding, a bad intake manifold can cause this. There is a good chance that the garage (that is now closed) used the same gaskets to save them money. Could this cause this? (it did pass a compression test that I did). Antifreeze smell/white smoke is very evident when the engine is cold
Any help/opinions will be greatly appreciated!
From my research, I've found that a head gasket problem is very rare on an ecotec.
