Tie Rod Replacement

So I've started the process of replacing my clutch. The front left tie rod didn't come out (the nut only came halfway off) so I had to cut the nut off with my grinder.

Is there anything special that needs to be done when putting the new one on? i.e. can I screw it on too far or not far enough?

Count the number of rotations you took the old one off with as to not screw up the alignment screw the new one on the same number of rotations. But regardless you should get an alignment after.
