Need Help to Program Fob, Not Key, 2007 Cobalt

Hello,

I'm a new member here on yourcobalt and have been reading many different posts on re-programming the key fobs for different years. It seems like the 2007 is an anomaly and you have to have the dealer or someone with some specific scanner to reprogram.

I have a very rudementary DIC, that has the four buttons, but no mileage stem on the dash. I have tried all of the different procedures found including some from YouTube.

I did find out after I purchased new ones off of Amazon that the old ones were repairable. So now I have four remotes to program.

My dealer wants $60.00 plus tax to program them for me. Is this my only recourse? Has anyone here actually programmed them for a 2007?

Thanks,
Robert

P.S. If by chance you need to program a key only, that is very easy.
1. Start your car, wait till the chimes stop
2. Shut off car and remove the key
3. Insert newly cut key within 10 seconds and start car
4. Rinse and repeat for any other keys

I do this all the time, all Cobalts can only be programmed via TechII or compatible controller. If you repair your old ones they won't need to be re-programmed to the car.

Thanks for the info. So I assume that means - to the dealer I go?

Locksmith would be cheaper by a mile. Here they charge $45, I only take a $20 donation lol. Call the dealer first make sure they don't charge that $100 flat rate for using TechII.
