You can always do some light ass rims but Ive heard horror stories of light rims snappping because they weren't forged. I've heard Traklites are good tho so if you wanna check those out here's a link: Motegi Racing Performance Wheels

Here are mine:Motegi Racing Performance Wheels

and correction my rims are 21.5lbs a piece

Stock rims/tires are 15 inches in diameter by 6.5 inches in width

Hmmmm I like the section about different cast like forged vs. composite. Definite a must read before purchasing rims and tires.

If you end up with a "SLIGHTLY" smaller diameter tire overall maybe you'll pick up a 10th of a second. Also, the 17" wheels will probably be lighter then 15" steelies so that will help since you will have a little less weight to turn.

Remember going to a larger size wheel (rim) at the same time you get a tire with shorter sidewall the overall diameter will stay nearly the same.
you are an idiot

the weight of the tire+wheel combination is what can hurt his performance, and not NOT NOT the size of "tire".

the drivetrain has to spend more power to turn a heavier object, and YES the rim being bigger can in theory make it slow HOWEVER, light weight wheels can greatly reduce if no eliminate this issue.

the widest rim you would EVER want to put on your car is a 7.5 inch rim, which is designed to run a 215 tire perfectly.

I just got mine from tirerack.com. They mounted and balanced them for free, the customer service guy I talked to was very nice, very knowlegable, and extremely helpful. A few hours after I ordered they called me to tell me that some of the hardware that came with my order would ship from a different warehouse eventhough it would still arrive on the same day they just wanted me to know that. IMO that's going far above and beyond the call of duty to please the customer. I will never order tires or rims from anywhere but tirerack.com after this experience.
