Red face To You Ppl With An Ss

i'm trading in my LT for an SS. I'm getting new rims (20x8.5)

i want to lower it a bit. how low can i get before i start rubing on my fenderwells? i want to go 1.6" and 1.8" but only if it will be reasonably spaced from the fender well.

also would i really need to change anything else?

if u need more specifics to answer, i can provide.

IMO - 20's are to big for any type of performance on the Cobalts. I'd go with 18's and a good wide tire then drop with Eibach springs. Just don't go to wide or you'll rub the inner fenderwell when turning.

i would even go one size smaller(17"), and a low pro wheel. Not only does it reduce the turning weight(allowing a better accel.) but it also accomodates quite a nice drop without any issues of rubbing.

Another thing you should know is that the 1.6" and 1.8" of the pro-kit will only drop the SS 0.5" in the rear and nothing in the front. The sportlines will drop the LS/LT 2.0" front and 2.5" rear, and SS 1.0" and 1.3".

I would not recommend anything larger than 19" for wheels. I would probably stick to 18" though as rubbing could become an issue with it dropped, along with tires being horribly expensive, and as mentioned the rolling resistance of such a large/heavy wheel/tire combo.
