Part 7...........MS6

I was sitting in my chair watching the Speed channel again. I started thinking about the past events in the ‘balt since I put the stage 2 upgrade into it. I was feeling pretty good and happy with the results. I was also starting to get hungry.

“Babe!, when’s dinner I’m hungry” I yell upstairs

“I’m still working, go out and get us something” She yells back.

I used to dread going out for food but now I don’t mind at all. I decided BBQ would be good for tonight. I’ll just take my favorite expressway over there and back.

On the way I see an elusive speed6 silver badge on the back of the car in front of me. The car was black as night with silver rims and a light tint all around. I do my usual pass, 65 in a 60 no biggie, I hear the thump of the music and I look over. The driver has his eyes front, leanin’ back gansta style, one wrist sittin’ over the steering wheel, and bobbin’ his head to the beat. I mash the pedal a little and continue on. I see the light up ahead turn yellow, there’s a car in the far right lane with two lanes free to his left. I move over to the far left and check to see if the ms6 will take the center lane. I guess that got his attention, he moves over and takes center stage. Come on why wouldn’t he. He's got no worries, he's got a 275 horse, 280 torque, AWD monster. Ain’t no damn Cavalier with that ricer wing gonna be able to keep up with him.

He pulls in and I notice the thumpin’ was not as loud as it was before. We play it cool, no revving of the engines, stare downs or anything els. We’re just two guys looking straight ahead waiting for the light to turn green.

The light goes green and we both accelerate. Before we're all the way across the intersection he looks over and I guess he didn’t expect to see me there, cause when our eyes locked we both went WOT. I'm right with him, coming up on 6500 rpm,....... I shift to sec..oh...wtf....:o the knob comes off in my hand, WTF, CRAP!!! By the time I regain some composure from that friggin' shift he was already a car ahead. I release the clutch and mashed my right foot down. You can hear the supercharger screaming to get back in it and we’re making progress when … BAM… rev limit,……AAARRGGGHHH….. Oh well, I calm myself down and skip a couple of gears and throw it in fifth conceding the race. I put the s**tknob back on and give it a good pound.

I look to see what the ms6 will do after his victory. He's still shifting that 6 speed and catching up to the traffice ahead, but he just keeps going, zigging and zagging never to be seen or heard from again. I just shake my head.

My little Cobalt musta really scared that poor guy.............:D..

At least you can say you raced with more self respect than he did "riding dirty".
