okay i might shift hard of the stop light if a honda or a foucs is next to me but i had an s-10 that i beat the liven dog crap out of for 120,000 and it still runs fine so 10,000 miles and bad tranny parts make me wonder

i know the feeling, i am driving my little grey camry, 320k km on it(do the math), that thing has been more reliable than my balt!!

Yeah the Getrag F23-5 that comes attached to the 2.2 and 2.4 cars is pretty good little piece. so long as you dont abuse it. If you can still find any these really like Mobil 1 Dexron III ATF(and Royal Purple DexronIII) It'll shift smoother, last longer, run cooler. If you can find a case of the Mobil 1 left anywhere, buy it, and change your fluid every 10-20,000 miles. DO NOT PUT ANY DEXRON VI FLUID IN A MANUAL TRANSMISSION

I had 2nd gear go outta my 2.4l balt at around 12,000 miles. It's mainly a syncro problem, since then nothing and i got about 20,000 miles on it now. But I get a bad clutch smell every once in a while, for no reason. I can be driving the car right easy and i'll smell clutch. I can run er to redline through 3 gears and stop, and nothing. It really puzzles me, I think I may have clutch problems in the near future...

YES!!! you are so awesome, I thought I was the worst person in the world for having an 07 with over 30k on it, but now I see you are slightly ahead of me and feel quite so bad...

But I'm same boat and have had no problems at all thus far. Is popping it into neutral without using the clutch bad or is that ok? I do that a lot when I need to coast? Should I stop? lol

Same thing happened to me an about 18000 miles. But it happened at the track power shifting. Somehow I still got it covered under warranty
