which fluid
 
I got a 06 2.2l balt w/auto tranny. Anyone know what fluid it takes?Dexron III or VI? Any recommendations of which fluid I should use?

Car has 30k miles. owners manual says every 50k miles. Im changing it because I abuse my tranny. It stays in the high rpm.

lol why abuse your transmission,you must have money to throw around then or your parents will pay for the damages.

just call the dealer and buy the OEM tranny fluid. You can never go wrong with OEM.

i'm pretty sure it says in the owner's manual to use Dexron VI......not positive though

Most of the fluid is in the trans, and not in the pan. If you drop the pan and do the filter change, and gasket yourself you will only get about 1/3 of the old fluid out of the trans.

I would suggest taking the car to a trans service pro. They have a device that pumps the fluid in through the lines and removes all old fluid.

It may cost $100.00 approx, for filter, gasket and fluid.
