The Gold Mpg Standard

So question, what should be the gold standard when people take pics to show the mpg they are getting?

Blazerlow pointed out in another thread that you can reset the AVG MPG on your DIC anytime to make it show whatever you want. It is true that some people will do things like this from time to time (not Blazer, he was just proving a point) and people like that can cause our new mpg section to become pointless.

So what do we do? Do we just trust that people are putting up correct numbers and good pics, or should their be a gold standard?

One suggestion would be for us to post pics of the fuel range indicator the next time you fill up. I know it increases as you increase your mpg, and you cannot reset it...

sorry 4dr-ls but were not really buying that claim no offense, but will I think max fuel range is good cause i've tried and can't get mine above 455 no matter what I try, 55 is my max legit average mpg on a trip when I hypermilled, average I get anywhere from 30-35,

Fuel range is when you fill up. You go through your DIC displays and one says "fuel range". This is how long you go before you run out of gas. It bases the number on the fuel you have in the car, and you mpg for the last tank. The point is that it cannot be reset, or anything done to make it erroneous.

didn't you see the pics blazer posted? he proved that you can reset the trip anytime you want like when cruising down hill and its gonna say 99.9 if you want it too. Fuel range is the only true measurement, I said that I got 55 once the average for a highway trip but I don't come close to that regular driving

actually, when you reset your econ gauge your fuel range will fluctuate. It is based off of the last tank, but as soon as you fire it up, it will change.
