Exhaust=MPG

I have a 2010 Cobalt LT Sedan, and I am all about hypermiling and ecomodding. But I haven't done anything yet! Haha

I really want to start with an exhaust system. Full, cat back, or maybe just a muffler. I get about 60-80 miles HIGHWAY every single day, so I want to get a higher flow exhaust to help my highway mpg - I have seen all the options for cat backs, and downpipes and such.. But to those of you who have aftermarket exhausts, what should I get?

I'm not going to complain if I get a little more horsepower, but all I want is maybe a 3-10% MPG increase. My driving habits are great, and like I said before I get like 80% highway mileage.

Please reply! I want to upgrade AT LEAST my muffler asap.

Thank you

Also, I am in California.. The damn K&N CAI is completely illegal - How do I obtain one without leaving the state? I am planning on keeping my stock set up for future smog checks.

I'm not too worried about the sound, as long as it doesn't sound terrible. All i care about is improved highway mileage. What do you recommend?

i didnt notice much difference doing the catback, it wont hurt but i dont think it will help too much. id love to hear of some sort of evidence that headers/dp help the mpg on this car.

The best thing for your mpg on the highway is driving slower. 55 mph I can easily get 45mpg.

If you can find some way to test out a system... that would be best.
Many people get sick of the droaning of their custom exhaust on the highway.
