Bike Racks

4dr 2.2 auto

ive got a trunk-mounted bike rack on my car and with my bike attached ill lose about 2-3 mpg on the highway on a REALLY good day and forget about it if im fighting the wind (which is often the case on my drive from Lubbock, TX to Albuquerque, NM).

Any opinions on a more fuel efficient option for carrying bicycle(s)? (ie, hitch rack or roof rack....) aerodynamics experts: feel free to go nuts

I like the trailer hitch kind if yoru taking multiple bikes but your still going to lose some mpg.

If it's only one bike how difficult would it be to drop the back seats and throw a tarp over them. Then pull the front tire and just put the bike inside?

Which rack are you using? I'm going to be looking for one for my '09 soon. Also, do you know what manufacturer produces a hitch for these cars? I know they aren't meant to tow but I may have to move a jet ski around (5-6 miles) at some point.
