If for no other reason, high gas prices really can make you appreciate a fuel effecient car. I'm getting 38 mpg now that the weather's warming up. Could be better I suppose but it aint bad.
I got my liscense in 02 and started delivering za's as a side job because the amount they gave per mile was actually higher than my cost per mile!! I was getting 38 mpg at that time.
There's a number of factors that impact price but at the core it's always supply and demand related.
One major factor lately is that economies around the world are either slowing or in recession. We've seen futures prices fluctuate with perceptions of global growth. This correlation is /has been pretty tight.
North American production has been increasing. As the global economy emerges from this funk it's been in ....demand pressures will push prices up again but my sense is we'll be in better shape with the added capacity coming online.
This morning my long term average MPG was reading 40.2. That helps my wallet and the demand curve.
Still, i live in Canada. We make so much fuel its not even funny and yet we pay more than you guys do and you have to import the majority of your fuel. The whole free trade idea doesnt seem to help us at all.
They should sell fuel online, I can find just about everything else cheaper if I look online. I'd love to order my gas even if it was 2 weeks away for $3.25/gal
I knew about the knock/pinging and detonation. My girlfriends honda civic si says to run it on supreme (91) for best performance but can be ran on regular (87) with lower performance. So I wasnt sure if the cobalts had this option too
Wow, on a civic? Nearly all of today's N/A cars don't require it, and is actually more harmful to run the higher octane and lower MPG. Higher octane doesn't always equal better performance, it all depends on how the engine was engineered, and also at what altitude you are at as well.
