Welcome to the cobalt world.. I had the same problem.. I ended up taking apart my box and reassembling it in the trunk.. Theft protection at its best!

ran into the same problem getting my kicker l7 box in the trunk. I had to take out the seats top and bottom, and flipped the box onto its side and grease it up and it just fit. You can take the seats out real easily, the bottom part comes ot just by pushing down on it and towards the trunk, do that on each side. Theres 2 places that hooks the seat into place. As for the top part of the seat i forgot how i got them to come out but there really easy, just look at it and youll be able to figure it out.

The only way mine would fit was to take out the upper and lower part of the back seat and remove the trunk carpet and put the box in then have my friend lift the box up while it was in the trunk and I pushed the carpet back under it.
