2008 Cobalt LT

Whats up guys. Just found this site today and well seems pretty active

Thank GOD!

OK so I bought a set of speakers and tweeters with an amp and 2 10" subs. It's a Kenwood system, minus back 2 speakers and an aftermarket head unit. So my buddy and I hooked everything up to the stock radio. Used 2 line converters spliced into the front factory speaker wires to amp and the back line converter spliced into the rear speakers into the amp. ( yes i know im buying another amp to run them both separately ) It sounds great but one of my other friends noticed that one sub is turned off O.o thats a punch in the face lol. So i tinkered around with the amp and got them both working BUT dun dun dun... it sound 100X better with only one O.o/ ( must be the speaker and sub connected into same amp?) ive still yet to purchase an aftermarket deck + 2 rear speakers which brings me to this-- i need a wiring harness, where hown and how much can i get one for my vehicle?

system specs:
speakers+tweets - Kenwood Excelon XR-S17P
Amp - Kenwood Excelon 4-chan amp X600F
Subs - very similar to these: Kenwood - KFC-W2512

If you need more info just tell me and ill give it to ya ;)

Thanks.

i hate to be a bad guy but for some reason gm put some brains of the car into the stock head unit like your door and blinker chimes so if you want anyone who installs aftermarket head units to work on it you need a cable that will replace the brain so you will have door chimes and other things. The cable can be easily found by typing in gm interface for gm in google or yahoo.PAC is the company who makes them the price ranges for like the lowest i saw was $79 to a hundred

Do all cobalts have this? I have a 06 LS and am just about to have my deck replaced and futureshop told me it would be fine because I have the 2 buttons (that show mileage/avg speed...etc) between the deck and steering wheel.

Thanks in advance for any imput.

i have a 08 cobalt ls and i was told it was necessary for the door chimes and other chimes in the car and that best buy would not install the deck unless i had the cable

If it sounds better with one sub speaker rather than two, it could be you have them out of phase. Have you tried swapping pos\neg on on of the speakers?

I went in to the dealership and they told me all Cobalts and the majority of GM's need the special bypass. This really pisses me off as to why GM would wire (or whatever you call it) their cars this way as I haven't heard of any other car makers doing this. Now an extra 100 bucks for the special harness, 160 if I had onstar. Getting to be sorry I bought a GM. Anyway, a vent post I guess. This deck better sound great...lol.
