Stock speaker and head unit questions.

I bought an 07 Cobalt LT about 2 months ago, everything is basically standard on it. I have noticed that the speakers are very quiet even when I have the volume pretty much cranked.

Is this being caused by the crappy stock speakers or the output on the head unit? I don't need a bone crushing system but I would like to hear my radio when the windows are down...yeah its that quiet.

Thanks for the help.

PS. the head unit is the stock one, no XM and I have the standard 4 speakers.

I have the sound at about 80% and I can barely hear it when the windows are down (in the city).

does the stock head unit have enough power output for me to put better speakers in and get more sound?

Thanks,

Chris

must be a bad connection or an issue with the head going out. mine at 80 before i added my sub was shaking my mirrors and now it sounds really good. idk i would try taking the head out and checking the harness making sure it was fully plugged in or something. do you know if there was an aftermarket stereo in there b4 you got it? maybe they didnt hook it back up all the way?

The stock head unit is crap, you may as well upgrade to a aftermarket head unit.I have the OEM pioneer speakers installed when I had the stock head unit and it was ok sounding, recently bought a Pioneer head unit due to the fact the stock one wouldn't release my cd's properly. Now my Pioneer speakers are alive with good sound quality.

well man, you do know you have an EQ on that stock stereo right? its not great, but it really helps. but if that doesnt do it then yeah..i'd start checkin connections. if not, pay $100 for even a semi-decent deck and it'll really bring em to life
