Definitely get the Dynamat or equilivilant, makes the sound better without annoying other people. Less rattle also.

With my 2 12's and my custom set-up (subs face up instead of back) the spare tire well rattled like crazy, took me 22 sheets of dynamat to bring the rattling down...depending on how big your system is you should definately dynamat...and I've seen people use insulation, socks, spray foam and a bunch of diffrent things to stop rattle but honestly go with dynamat or something similar or you wont get the result your looking for

With enough dynamat you will eliminate all the rattles inside your car. I did it so it is possible. But you will NEVER stop the outside of your trunk rattling. You can calm it down a little but itll never stop.

So if your going to by dynamat dont buy the trunk kit or anything like that. buy it off amazon.com for the best price and get the bulk pack instead of the packs meant for the trunk, teyre cheaper and have more in it.

Also when you apply it make sure you clean the surfance well with windex and a paper towel then prep it with rubbing alcohol to make sure it really sticks. If you put it on a dirty surface it will fall off enetually and wont deaden as much as it should.

But id say the #1 spot you wanna put dynamt is the top and bottom of the rear deck lid. i did this and the sound quality coming out of the speakers was SO much better after wards. and so much less rattling from the deck it was great.

But if you dont want to shell out the money for the dynamat just yet you can shove a towel or foam or something underneath the rear deck lid to stop it from bounching up and down, and maybe cork it in place or zip tie it down to make sure you get no rattles out of it. Also get some gorrila glue and glu shut the little flaps where you hook the baby seats into. Those rattle like a *****. Also the square piece that goes around the sunroof button just pops off you can take that off. And on the rear view mirror there is a little screw at the top you can tighten so it wont rattle as much.

Hope that helps.

Ebay has a number of vendors that sell stuff similar to Dynamat and is much cheaper also. I bought from two different vendors there and it seems to be the same quality and installation as the Dynamat I installed.

I used fatmat brand from ebay, same stuff, no difference in quality, got like 100 square feet for around $100, which was a great deal! did my whole civic trunk, and tightened the trunk lid latch inside the trunk, and basically it got rid of 90% of the shaking in that area. Didn't do the door panels or roof of my civic so you heard a small amount of rattle but for the most part, it wqas reallly unnoticeable. And sounded great inside. Imma do my entire cobalt in the same stuff, next spring. Imma buy another roll of 100 square feet, do the 2 doors, the trunk, and the roof of my car too cuz i noticed this weekend after installing my subs that my roof flexed abit and some of the plastic was shaking.

Dont DIY this stuff. Just shop around. You're only looking at getting 1 sub though so for now, just get the sub etc. (especially with your budget) then see how it is. Wont be as bad as mine that's for sure, and mines only bad when i crank it (it will prob get worse since my car is new)
