Sound System Question

I'm saving up to upgrade to a better sound system and I wanted to know what exactly do I need to buy. As in how many speakers, subwoofers, amps, etc. And the size.

-Thanks

Depends on what you want. Go check out a car audio shop and see what they have and ask them ? about the system you want. By car audio shop, I'm not talking about best buy.

it all depends on what u wanna do....for example im going all out mmats pro audio and touchscreen pioneer

then theres other things like how powerful the amp is how big u want the subs and how much u r willing to spend

yea my cobalt looks like a hotwheel

MODS: power locks, power windows, 30% tint front, 15% tint back, k&n sri, tsudo n-1 exhaust

BUY FROM SONIC ELECTRONIX.COM!!! I found some subs at best buy for $120 at the website above it was $60, free shipping and 1 year warranty...WOW

as of what to get - just basics for now if u dont wana spend a lot like 1 or 2 subs, amp, box, wiring kit, and a IEC AULOC 2-60W converter to hook up to stock head unit, and thats all u need for basics.

find ur subs first, then match it with a amp and wiring kit.

a good start for a sub is 400-500W RMS. Dont even look at the "max" wattage bcuz it does absolutly nothing.

If u get one sub then get a mono amp and just match the RMS with the subs but add 100 watts....for instance if ur sub is 400W then get a 500Wamp.

then match the wiring kit, for the battery cord get a 4-6 gage, and speaker wire should be around 16 guage. or just get a wiring kit at walmart and it should show what RMS it is for...

for looks of ur system ur best bet is a ported 2 sub box and just make it look clean.

later on maybe add some dynamat around ur trunk and maybe add some custom speakers for the interior for looks, just look at some pics of custom interior cars and get an idea, but thats for later when u have more money!!

For good sound quality you also need to Dynamat your trunk and rear deck, in addtion to the doors.

If you have money to blow
go with Alpines. I love the way they sound.
# Front: 6-1/2"
# Rear: 6" x 9"
# Front door: 6-1/2"
Don't know what the rear decks are.

amps-get 2 if you can afford it, a small one for the speakers and 1 for the subs. (for best sound)
subs- depends on what you want, single, double,8", or 12", they are up to you (make sure the amp can keep up with the watt power of the subs or they may blow)

Whats your overall price range and your wants??
Suggestion no matter what it is, is to start with an aftermarket indash

if money is no object i recomend infinity kappa perfect. you will need atleast a 700W rms mid range amp with these, and if your going for just great sound i would go with a single jl w6 10" if you can find one.. and about a 800W rms low range amp for that. and as far as a cd player goes just don't buy anything from walmart or anything like that.. a cd player is the only thing that i would buy from best buy.. they have some good alpine stuff, but don't touch pioneer or sony they are going down hill fast!!

tell me how much you want to spend. Your car can sound amazing with this

i would recommend

350rms watt 4 channel amp
750 rms mono amp
New pioneer (6.5's) for the front
Pioneer (6X9's) for the back
1 kicker l5 in a ported box.

That will be an amazing sound system, clean and crisp ass vocals, and pumping ass bass for the right price. But then again i dont know what you want to spend

i would definatly upgrade your interiors and amp them with a 350 watt amp. The subs is where you can vary more.

2007 Black LT coupe
35% Tint all around - Completly debadged - Side Moldings Removed
KICKER ZX 650 RMS interior amp - KICKER ZX1000 RMS Sub Amp
1 KICKER 12" L7 - All new pioneer interiors - Pioneer Avic Z2 W/ GPS
Rockford 1 Farad capcitor - Trunk, Doors, and Rear deck Dynamated - PS2 with guitar hero
Blue footwell neons - Two Alpine type S Tweeters

Engine mods:
K&N air filter
