HD Radio...who Has It and How Can I Get It?

Just like the title says, who here has HD Radio and do you like it? Please post your set up if you can.

I am interested in adding it to my factory HU but I am unsure of what I need to do it. Any info would be cool...

lol. xm's better. Unless your city has a better aray of HD stations. I think atlanta has 2, and they're no better that regular fm (in terms of programming).

Your only option I can think of is replacing your factory HU or buying an external receiver if they make one yet.

I personally don't think HD radio will be around too long anyhow.. Free broadcast radio is becoming less profitable and forcing people to upgrade their stereo to pickup a couple extra channels is making a nitch market in a sector that is losing more and more listeners/income every day anyway. They should have done the HD transition just like they did TV. slowly, migrating people to the new over the course of almost a decade. Just my (modestly uneducated) opinion.

Yeah, I'm in the Pittsburgh area and we seem to have a ton of HD channels. I've been sampling some stations online and there are a few that are pretty good. I do agree that I don't want to upgrade my HU for this alone, but I also don't want to pay for XM either. If I can't get HD for cheap, I'll just stick to CD's and iPod for my tunes! LOL

neat, I'm glad to see they're trying so I'd assume there has to be something external you can plug into your aux jack like your ipod...there may not be, but its a thought if you haven't looked that direction yet.

I would love to have something integrated with the HU...I hate looking at wires and extra controllers! LOL I'm hopping for some kind of interface that hooks up in the back and adds HD function...but I can just imagine the cost! Haha

I just got Directed HD Radio DMHD-1000 the car antenna plugs into it and then it has an antenna out that plugs into your radio. You can hook it up to your radio with the fm modular it has on it or with two rca cables. Then it has a head unit about a cm think that you have to find a place for. It works and I do not have an opinion on hd radio because this is my first day having it installed.

The reason why I got this one is because someone sells cables for it which allows you to plug it up to your computer (or in my case future carpc), so there are other tuners like this out on the market. I got mine for 44 bucks on ebay, so you can check there every once in awhile.

only one I see on ebay right now (you can find new ones every once in awhile for about 50 bucks).
