Problem with Head Unit Install

Im installing a boss 612ua into a 05 base. Matched up all wires with the harness, and tapped the windshield wiper fuse for acc. All wires are soldered and fuses all look good. Firstly, I get nothing with ignition in acc position. Secondly, when ignition is turned to ON, I get a very faint lcd display on the head unit but no key illumination and no sound. Short of a bad head unit, could there be another problem? I havent even attempted to hook up amp, subs yet. Jusy testing it with basic function. Car runs fine and the unit I swapped it out for worked perfectly. Any thoughts? Thanks guys!

It seems that if it was an issue with your power wire, it would either work or not work. Can we assume this stereo is used?

Also, how did you tap the fuse?

It was an ebay purchase. Listed as new. Looked new to me. The windshield wipers work fine so cant be a fuse problem. Tapped with standard fuse expander sold at advance auto parts.

Also, what other source would be useable. Base model. So no sunroof.

Take a wire straight to the battery, you'll know for sure if its the head unit that way.

So just take the red and black to the positive and negative of the battery?

I would go back and check your fuses. If you didn't disconnect your battery before wiring, something may have blown a fuse. Did you leave the stock harness intact? Hopefully you didn't do a hack job
