After Market Harness...Really?!?!

Ok, So I am buying a Cobalt, 2008 Base Model, manual everything, no onstar, no pioneer...NOTHING!!!!! I just got a double Din unit for it real cheap. Well basically, I refuse to pay $100 or even close to it for an aftermarket harness so so I can keep my chimes. Seriously? So, what do i use to wire up the radio without cutting the factory wires? Not that I'm against it, I just don't like to be sloppy about it and I see no reason to even consider buying this stupid harness. Has anyone done it without it?

you want to do it right? then buy the harness otherwise you can just buy the cheaper harness, but you wont have your chimes, I beleive mine was 25$

agreed, ever heard your car go "ding, ding, ding" when you left your headlights set on instead of "auto"? that's a door chime for example and that $15 harness will remove that chime, but its your call if you leave your lights on or keys in your car.

I would be happy with it. Problem is no one carries it and I cannot locate an item or a part number for it. I bought this, "Scosche GM13SR Onstar GM Motors select 2004 & Up GM 11 Bit Replacement Interface" Hoping it works. I got it for $25 on ebay. If someone can point me to the info on the cheap harness, I would so be all over it.

Thanks for the help BTW. :-)
