Aftermarket

So went and got this aftermarket radio with a 7 inch screen and there's a huge gap around and it sticks out a couple inches. Did anyone do some fabricating to make it flush.

You're supposed to buy a mounting kit with it.

You always have to get a mounting kit when buying an aftermarket stereo unless you drive a scion because they know their radios are crap so they design them so you can get an aftermarket stereo instead. I recommend Metra.

+1 for the fit kit.

I haven't replaced my radio on this car, but plenty of others. On a few of my cars I've had to bend in/cut away a metal mounting tab from the OEM radio to make the new HU fit flush. It may be the same way on this one, but I'm sure someone can clarify.

Not nessecarily, it depends on the year and stero options you have. In my 2005 base model I installed the same type of set up with just a cheap wiring harness and antenna adapter with no problems. I attached the red power wire to the fuse that controls the windshield wipers so it comes on when the car is started.

If it's $100 at best buy you can probably find it around $20 online.
