Front Speaker Sealing

I found out yesterday the front left speaker is shot. They are aftermarket Fosgates, around 3 years old. They are pretty much eroded from water damage which is a common problem in the cobalts.

Before I go and replace them, anyone have any tips to seal up the speaker to prevent water from getting to the speakers? I was thinking about putting some 6 1/2 size foam speaker baffles in. I don't know if that would cause fitting problems for the speaker though.

Anyone try sealing up their front speakers? Suggestions. I probably won't be getting around to it till next month when I take a 2 week vacation. I got time.

You could get some spray adhesive and tack a layer of plastic around the outer surface of speaker cones. That should create a water-tight barrier...JMO.

I ran into the same thing you did and went with XTC speaker baffles...I made sure that I routed the wires out the bottom..didn't have any further issues on my 07 and haven't had any on my 09.

Awesome. I've been looking at the XTC baffles. Looks like I'll be going that route.

Thanks.
