High Output Alternator

I have a 250 amp alternator on my 2.2l cobalt but the computer regulates the output down till my voltage gets close to 12 volts then it will jump up to 14 and only drops to 13 when at full tilt, is there a way to change the cpu settings to let the alternator keep charging at 14 instead of waiting till 12 volts. I've been told I need to get a alternator with a internal regulator but I already spent $300 on this one and I can't return it

I forgot to mention I have 2 xs power d3100 batteries in this car also

having the same problems, theres a black module that is around the ground wire, it senses current and regulates your voltage based on it. when i unplugged mine i jumped up from 12.7 to 13.7v instantly. now thats where my voltage sits... still not very good but better than 12.7
