Learn a New Radio
I currently have a tablet that has FM capabilities hooked up in my car. I am moving soon to way outside of city limits, and the FM reception disappears about half way to where I will be living. I don't want to go back to the stock radio setup as I like the look I have. I have 2 possible solutions:
1) Install a single DIN radio underneath my tablet, alter the trim and make a bracket to hold the radio and tablet
2) I found a radio at work that is touchscreen navi. out of an Avalanche.
My issue with #2 is that there are 4 connectors on the back of the radio, and my Cobalt only has 2, which hook up right into it. Also, when I hooked it up and checked to see if it would power on, I could tell there were security issues based on what was happening to my dash - random flickering of lights, lost my air temp., my mileage...almost everything.
I am assuming that the radio is VIN encoded. Does anyone know if you can rewrite the VIN in the radio?
I have an antenna adapter hooked up to my stock antenna which in turn feeds another adapter which I have spliced into a headphone jack. The headphone jack plugs into a splitter which plugs into my tablet. This has helped the reception, but not to the point where reception is what I would like it to be. Does anyone have any tips for getting great reception through a tablet?
