hello, is there an electronic chip in the contact keys? Thank you

The key does have a "chip" on the black part and it's just more of an immobilizer more than anything. It does require programming via tech 2 scan tool.

I'm almost positive 05 and maybe even 06 doesn't have a chip in the key, there should be a little plus symbol on the key right by where the plastic end is on all keys with chips in them though

My car is 2007. Is it possible to programe it by myself, I think I have read something about it.

Never done it personally so I can't guarantee it works but here's a write up from a quick Google search anyways, do you at least have one working key?

I dont think theres a risk to doing that. I know the chevy impalas you can reprogram a key with just the fob alone without a tech 2. You have to press the lock and unlock keys and hold it down for 10 seconds, then put in your new key. Dunno if that works for the cobalts

the keys you need a transponder chip key, have it cut, then you can program it with a already programmed key, the key fob on the other hand needs the tech2 to program it
