Where to get factory service manuals?

When ever I buy a new car, I purchase the factory service manual as well. Where do you buy the Chevy service manuals?

Need a 2009 Cobalt.

2009 Cobalt LT, 5-spd.

Look in the back of your owners manual...Helm, Inc makes them.

you can get them from your Dealer, CED, GMTechbook (www.gmtechbooks.com), etc...

There is a BIG difference. Haynes and Chiltons are for the occasional backyard mechanic...info for basic stuff like changing oil and minor maintenance. The 1"-maybe 2" thick book covers basically all years so if there is a minor change it may not even make mention of it.

Factory Service Manual is for the mechanic as it has complete teardown and rebuilding of everything to include trannys, engines, body panels, suspension, interior, wheels, etc., etc. Plus it has detailed Diagnostics of EACH DTC. There are theories of operations for the components too. They are specific to a year model (2006 Cobalt/G5, 2007 Cobalt /G5, and on) so the three-volume-set (6" - 7" thick together) is only info on that year model and usually includes even the smallest detail change (like brakes, a different tranny linkage in the middle of the model year, etc -- for example).
