The GM oem remote start, how do you activate the remote start for use?

If you have a manual tranny, its not applicable. Only on the auto does it work from the maufacture. You can go get an aftermarket setup and have it illegally installed but I dont recomend that. I love my auto and remote start though!!!

On the other hand if you have the auto....

Step one. Lock car with remote
Step Two Press and hold the 3/4 circle button for 2 seconds or until the car starts.

The vehicle will run for approx. 15 minutes before shutting off. You can repeat this one more time if needed then you will ave to manually start the car with the key as the remote will not start the car again until you use the key.

F all of you, I'm 5 speed and I got a remote starter... you know they do have 5-speed remote started that come out specially with security features.

1: Car has to be in N to engage.
2: Parking Brake has to be on to engage.
3: You have to be in car with engine still running to engage.

Here is how you engage, put your car in N, pull up parking brake, while car is still on, hold the start button for 2-3 seconds, turn ignition off, get out of the car and go home... whenever you want to start just hold the start button for 2-3 seconds and car will turn on. Note: it won't engage if car is in gear, engine is off or parking brake is off. The only thing you can **** up is engage it, turn the car off then put it in gear and then leave, but if you do that then you're an idiot so yeah, it works just fine, only downfall is you got to activate it every time you're planning on remote starting it, those 3 extra seconds is definitely worth a warm car in the morning without going outside though ;)

AND if you are enough of an idiot to engage it and then purposely put the car in gear after turning the engine off, what's the worst that can happen, unless you also take off the ebreak before you get out of the car and even then what are the chances of it not stalling on start

Thanks thats what I thought I had a prostart in my Neon and thats how i had to do it too. I was hoping for a system that has a sensor to make sure the car is in neutral. Like a laser beam or something.

I have a Viper alarm/remote start on my car. I don't understand why it would be a bad idea unless the owner is a moron like Ramphex mentioned, in which case the owner probably shouldn't have a car to begin with. Definitely worth it.

x2. I've had a remote start in my car for 2years and ive never had an issue. I don't see how their illegal either? The safety features in them go as far as opening the door after you've set it and shut the car off will disengage it. So unless it's installed wrong they're completely safe.

The higher models of them you dont even have to do anything really to set them. Mine all I do is pull my ebrake, wait for it to click then get out, it shuts the car off and arms it automatically.

I have a remote start for sale for manuals if your looking for one. you may need a by pass box but that's not a big deal. it has everything else. No alarm but it does have the power lock button and trunk button.

Does not play well with others.
