First and foremost, CLEAN OFF YOUR ENTIRE CAR OF SNOW AND ICE. This way you can be see out of your car. Also this will eliminate any flying snow or ice chunks that can damge other vehicles and possibly hurt or kill other people (it has happened).

Crank your car about 10 mins before youre about leave. Give it time to warm up and defrost windows.

15 if you've got ice covering your car and it's still below well freezing. Drive slow and don't rely on your solely brakes, coasting and learning how to control your skids/fishtails will be a great asset.

drive as fast as possible

Nah, just be very cautious, take your time. Keep plenty of distance between you and other other cars. Best thing is to avoid it if possible, aka, if you live in a state that does not get it alot. Obviously if you live in the north you cannot really avoid it.

Its not that bad just drive slow, do not jerk your steering wheel, and start slowing down earlier b4 a stop.

stay your ass at home... or ride with mom...

not being an ass, i just don't wanna hear of some 16 year old kid in a cobalt getting plowed by an 18 wheeler because he couldn't stop in time, or slid off of the top of a mountain.... leave the HEAVY snow driving to the pros till you get a little more time behind the wheel without the snow..

just be safe man, whatever you decide to do.

Yeah if you're nervous about the ice/deep snow, try to carpool with someone until you get some more expiriance with slick/buried roads. Granted you won't learn until you do it, but there's nothing wrong with not taking the deep snow just yet.
