2009 Car and Driver Lightning Lap Results

Here are the results for this year (4th iteration). The SS/TC is still really competitive and remains the second fastest vehicle in the LL1 class.

Interesting notes? The 2009 Nismo 370Z crashed at 130mph after a total brake failure. Apparently its stock pads were so bad that they went from totally fine to gone with no warning. Also worth noting is that the Hyundai Genesis Coupe was an automatic version... Car and Driver thinks that with the manual it would have challenged the 350Z Track for the LL1 title. The re-designed Mazdaspeed 3 turned out to be slower than its predecessor due to its 200lb extra weight. Probably most hilarious is that the Subaru WRX 265 beat the much more expensive STI.

I've taken the liberty of combining all 4 years' standings into one list. I've highlighted the 2009 entries in bold. The SS/SC and SS/TC are highlighted in red.

I thought the camaro would of done better imo, and shocked to see the 265 beat the STI. Glad to see how well the ZR1 did.

Car and Driver was surprised the Camaro placed as well as it did. It's a big, heavy tank. The only reason it placed so well is that VIR is a power track. The Camaro is pretty much a joke by most standards.

Not on a race track you wouldn't, particularly not with your cut springs.
