I was having that happen to me, give it a tune up, clean the maf, clean the throttle body, etc.

If the general maintenance doesn't work could be one of three things from what I have researched.

Throttle body assembly (I just replaced mine, I'll let you know how that goes in the week)
APPS (my DTC codes said it wasn't likely it was this part and more likely the TBA)
ECM

This is a very common problem on these balts, that has a ton of causes.

Left me a little scared. I dont think it will be a deal killer, just a little recent concern, now.

Thanks, people!

than you need to do more research if you do not want one cause of one persons purchase, I beleive that person also got a high mileage car. With any high mileage car you can run into problems. You say ordering, sounds to me like a new car, problems? doubtful, if so, warranty.

Thanks, Beam, but it said "common problem.....". yes, its new. Also, high mileage to me is >80,000 or so. Still, you have a point.....

Beamer is right. That was a high mileage car. You gotta remember that we have some balts on here with 100,000 miles or more on them. I don't remember how many miles were on this one, but it was well over warranty coverage.

I hit 40,000 last week, and have had no troubles out of mine at all.

Um it has 104,876 miles on it and it's an '06.

The '05 has about 125-130k on it.

Yes I have an 05 White Cobalt LS Sedan and an 06 White Cobalt LT Sedan.

And read the forum, there are several posts regarding surging, loss of power, poor idle... from other people.

That said.

Any car you get is going to have it's issues, every car on the road has issues, thats part of owning a car. I know plenty of people with new Jaguars that spend more time at the dealer than on te road.

At least when a cobalt has a problem it doesn't cost thousands of dollars to get it fixed.

Oh and for me, the balts are econo daily drivers....

balt is an econo driver for me aswell, just so happens that my cavalier is the beater though. My balt was a daily for almost 2 years. Just cause a car is a econo box doesn't mean it has to be driven daily. This one just so happens to be my toy and I want to keep it nice for aslong as I can so if I do not have to drive it all the time that i won't. Just cause it aint a ferrari or something dont mean its gotta be a beater, even if I had a much more expensive ride this car would still be treated as it is now and well continue to be even when I get nicer rides. The car for me now is a nice day car to take out and cruise in, take to the strip for runs and car shows to show people that just cause its a cobalt doesn't mean it cannot be a cool car as I have shown all last show season based on everyone who came and checked it out.

And yep, plenty of other cars with alot more money that needs to go into them to be fixed
