Has Anyone Ever Disabled Their Electric Power Steering?

If so, was the car driveable or just way too hard to steer? I'm asking because I drove my friends prelude today and it doesn't have power steering and I really like the way it felt.

On a system that is fully electric, and designed to operate under power, I would not recommend it.

No you don't. GM products have some of the most over-boosted low-speed power steering on the market. Any fighting comes from user error, not the system.

I had mine go out before and it was still drivable. I had to drive it like that to the dealership that was about 15 miles away. It is similar to if your power steering pump on an older car was to go out.

 at this thread...

i havent had power steering for about a year now due to GMs SHITTY design. ive replaced the motor before, and that fixed it for about 2 months and then it broke again. and the dealerships wont do anything about it either since im over my 36k mile bumper-to-bumper. honestly im used to it, i do deliveries for dominos. only bad thing is when ur trying to 3point turn or make sharp corners at slow speeds, then its a really big ***** to deal w/.

thats from grooves in the road, like high/low spots. just fyi. mine does the same and its always when there is a hump or drop in the level of the road somewhere.
