Exclamation A Little Bit of Windshield Wiper Fluid in the Surge Tank?!

Hi, Today, being as groggy as I was, i accidentally put a little bit of windshield wiper fluid in the surge tank in my cobalt, it honestly wasn't a lot (prolly less than a whole cup) but I just dont want my car to explode. Think I will be ok?

I think you'll be fine. If you really want, you can flush the system and refill it. It's not very hard to do.

I'm assuming you drove the car with it in there?

Should be able to get it at the auto parts store. Just get jugs of 50/50 Dexcool. I got Prestone Dexcool 50/50. I forget how many gallons the coolant system takes.

Know how to flush it?

@Travis, I hope so. Its honestly not a lot, probably 1/4 of your average drinking glass to *doubtfully* 1/2. I spilled most of it on the fuse box and the master cylinder than anything.

I don't know if it would be worth the time and money involved in flushing it, since it probably won't hurt the car at all.

But basically, what you do, is drain the coolant out of the radiator hose, and turn the engine on (probably should do it when it's cold, and hasn't been started for a long time) till no more coolant comes out, then go ahead and shut it off. Then you can put the hose back on, tighten it, and fill it all with coolant. Might have to fill it a couple times, since the engine has to be filled and will suck down a lot of the coolant.

Don't worry about it then, you're fine.

yeah considering the windshield fluid is just water and some other cleaning stuff and coolant is just water and other stuff, its fine, its not like you put what in the oil filler
